Uploading to Your Web Hosting Account

One of the best things about Dreamweaver is that it’s easy to connect to a web host like lunarpages.

Use Dreamweaver’s “site” command to tell Dreamweaver where your website files are stored on your computer (the “local” location of your website) and then tell Dreamweaver your web host account info (the “remote” location of your website).

This way, when you make a new page, with the click of a button it’s uploaded (sent via your internet connection) to your web host—and to your website on the internet.

BTW, instead of the term “upload,” Dreamweaver uses the term “put”—it “puts” files up into your host account folder.

Via Dreamweaver, you have complete access to the folder your web host is keeping for you. You can make changes or add and subtract stuff with ease.

In a nutshell, you will do all of your work from your local folders (the ones on your personal computer), then upload everything to your remote folders (the ones stored at your web host)—all within Dreamweaver. Whatever pages you send to your remote folders will be available on your website.

You pretty much never even have to get on the web and go to your lunarpages account to do anything to your website. Once you’re set up, Dreamweaver will handle everything!
